Please use ISO/IEC 8859-1:1998 instead, covering all national variants mentioned below and much more. Even better, go all the way and use ISO/IEC 10646-1:1993. It really is about time.
All ISO/IEC 646:1991 Character Encodings have some things in common:
- ISO/IEC 646:1991 Character Encodings are 7-bit.
- Code points except 23, 40, 5B-60, 7B-7E are identical.
- Code point 24 is indeed DOLLAR SIGN. :)
There is one International Reference Version of ISO/IEC 646:1991, also known as (7-bit) US-ASCII. Additionally there are 12 national variants:
