CiscoTools Maintenance Guide

Use user "cisco" for maintenance.

Backup Everything

In order to backup everything:

ctbackup
The backup file is named
/tmp/CiscoTools-yyyy-mm-dd-vvv.tgz
yyyy-mm-dd represents the current date in ISO8601 format. vvv stands for the version (e. g. 120 for version 1.2.0).

Backup Data Only

Data by default is stored under

/srv/www/htdocs/cisco/data

Cleanup Obsolete Data

Over time machines come and go and data may become obsolete. If you need to cleanup data (remove old entries) there is a script for just that.

Syntax:

cleanlog logfile date time
where
All entries before the given date/time are removed from the logfile.

If you want to remove data older than 2008-09-08 from all data files:

cd /srv/www/htdocs/cisco/data
for i in */arplog* */maclog* ; do cleanlog $i 2008-09-08 00:00:00 ; done
